94,333 unique ecosystems depend on groundwater in California. GDE Pulse lets you see how they have changed over the last 30 years. Groundwater managers and environmental stakeholders often lack information about the health of critical groundwater dependent ecosystems (GDEs). To fill this information gap, we summarized 34 years of Landsat satellite data for GDEs in all groundwater basins in California to show how their greenness and canopy moisture content has changed overtime. We also summarized groundwater level data from nearby wells and local precipitation data. Using this app, groundwater managers can better understand the changes in GDEs over time, and determine if there are any critical groundwater level thresholds to maintain to promote GDE health.
